Our frozen apple smoothie bites are a great way to add more fiber to your pets diet. What’s even better is these treats only need three ingredients! Apples are also a good source of vitamin A and C. Just be sure to remove the core and seeds first. Now onto the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Apples
  • 1 Cup Greek Nonfat Plain Yogurt
  • Water

Directions:

  1. Slice 2 apples into small pieces but remove the seeds and the core.
  2. Mix the apple slices, yogurt, and a splash of water in your NutriBullet or blender and blend until you get a liquid consistency.
  3. Pour the mixture into an ice cube tray and freeze for a few hours or until hard.
  4. Put the leftover treats into a Tupperware container and store them in the freezer.

Mint Dog Bones

Not only are our these mint dog bones tasty, but they will also improve your dog’s breath. Here’s a festive way to help freshen your pets breath.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons of chopped mint leaves
  • 3/4 a cup of milk or water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons of wheat germ
  • 1 tablespoon of Brewer’s yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups of flour

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees and grease a baking sheet.
  2. Whisk mint, milk or water, egg, honey and oil in a large bowl.
  3. Mix in wheat germ and Brewer’s yeast.
  4. Slowly mix in flour to form a thick dough.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Use your favorite cookie cutters to cut the cookies.
  7. Place cookies on the baking sheet and bake until golden brown.
  8. Let the dog bones cool and feed to your dog.

Gingerbread Christmas Dog Treats

If you’ve been baking this holiday season you know that most of the treats your dog can’t have. But what about gingerbread? Gingerbread is yummy treat for your dog this holiday season. These treats are very easy to make and fairly healthy for your dog.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of ground ginger
  • 3/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup of molasses
  • 1/4 cup of canola oil

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and grease a baking sheet.
  2. In a small bowl mix the flour, ginger, cinnamon and cloves together.
  3. In a separate bowl mix the molasses, water and oil.
  4. Mix the molasses mix into the flour mix and combine until it forms a dough.
  5. On a floured surface roll out the dough to a 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Cut the cookies into holiday shapes and place on baking sheet.
  7. Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Let the cookies cool and feed to your dog.

The Easiest Ever Two-Ingredients Dog Treats

We mean easy! These treats only take two ingredients: whole wheat flour and baby food. You can substitute the whole wheat flour for another type of flour, but keep in mind the texture and consistency of the dough might not be the exact same. Here’s how to make our easiest ever two-ingredients dog treats.

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Mix ingredients together to form a stiff dough. If necessary, add extra flour or water as needed.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out evenly until it’s about 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to cut into the desired shape or a pizza cutter to make cubes.
  4. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper, place treats about 1/2 inch apart. Bake for 20 – 25 minutes.
  5. Allow them to cool completely before storing in a paper bag (storing in an air-tight container will make them soft, but they’re still edible).

Dog-Friendly Pumpkin Pie Bites

These dog friendly pumpkin pie bites provide an excellent source of fiber and other vitamins and minerals.

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Mix oatmeal and flour together in a large bowl.
  3. Add enough water to get the dough to form a ball. Add water slowly, too much will make it too sticky, not enough and it will crumble.
  4. Line cupcake tins. Take a chunk of dough and press into the bottom of the cupcake liner. The dough should go up sides a bit, about a 1/2″.
  5. Bake crust for 8 mins, until firm and slightly brown.
  6. Carefully take crusts out of the tin, cool on the rack. When cool, remove liners.
  7. Mix pumpkin, banana, and half of the yogurt together.
  8. Fill each crust with pumpkin banana mixture.
  9. Freeze until firm. Serve Frozen.

National Watermelon Day is coming up and what better way to celebrate by making some watermelon medley pupsicles. Watermelon is low in calories, contains potassium, and vitamins A, B6, and C. Making them not only a refreshing, hydrating snack but also a healthy one! Carrots and apples provide an excellent source of fiber and vitamins A and C. What’s even better is these treats are super easy to make with only three ingredients! All you’ll need is a blender and a dog treat mold to make these pupsicles.

Ingredients:

  • 2c Watermelon
  • 1c Chopped Carrots
  • ½c Diced, Peeled, Apple
  • ½c Fresh Spinach (Optional)

Directions:

  1. Pulse the watermelon, carrots, apple, and spinach in a blender until smooth.
  2. Pour into mold and freeze for two hours.

National Cookie Day is here and it is not only for humans! Allow your dog to join in the fun with this simple and easy recipe for peanut butter dog cookies. They are easy to make and much healthier for your dog than store-bought cookies. So give them a try and let us know how your dog likes them!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2/3 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 – 3 cups whole wheat flour

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Prep a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Mix pumpkin puree, peanut butter, and eggs until well mixed. Gradually add 2 1/2 cups flour. Add an additional 1/4 cup flour at a time just until the dough is no longer sticky.
  3. Knead the dough 3-4 times until it comes together. Roll the dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut out desired shapes and place them onto the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Place into oven and bake until the edges are golden brown, about 20-25 minutes.
  5. Let cool completely.

Thankfully Small Business Saturday gives us a chance to really focus on local businesses and bring them some holiday cheer, and sales! If you are wondering how you can help this year, here are some ideas for you:

  • Presents – Which of your friends have pets, or just like animals? Many stores sell novelty items as well as pet supplies. Consider which gifts you can purchase at a local store instead of from a big-box competitor.
  • Presents for the Pets – Sometimes it is easier to get presents for the pets than for the people, and the people appreciate them just as much! So check out those dog beds, scratching posts, toys and treats.
  • Get a Gift for Yourself – Have you been holding off on a purchase? Maybe now is the time! Since many stores run sales, check out the deals to see if anything is of interest. If not, buy that special item anyway. You are supporting a local business!
  • Gift Cards – If you don’t know what to buy, always go with a gift card to your favorite local shop. Then your friend or family member can pick their own present! Gift cards do not have to be large amounts and can make fantastic stocking stuffers for those hard-to-buy-for folks.

Tuna Yum Yums – Homemade Cat Treat Recipe

Cats love their treats and it is nice to give them something fresh, homemade, and healthy. These are especially good around the holidays when we are all getting yummy food and do not want to leave out our feline friends!

Tuna Yum Yums

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of flour
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of non-fat milk
  • 1/2 can of tuna
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil or fish oil
  • 1 beaten egg
  • Optional: a teaspoon of catnip, mint, or parsley

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and place parchment paper on a cookie sheet
  2. Mash or cut the tuna into small pieces, mix in the flour and milk
  3. Pour in water and vegetable oil, then mix well
  4. In a separate dish, beat the egg
  5. Mix the beaten egg into the tuna mix
  6. Mix well, until the mix becomes dough-like
  7. Shape the dough into small balls, about the size of blueberries, and place on the baking sheet
  8. Cook the dough for 12 minutes or until golden brown. Stick a toothpick in to check that the treat is fully cooked
  9. Cool for an hour before feeding to your kitty and make sure not to overindulge them
